There’s a surprise in the center of the Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies. Can you guess?

The mini chocolate chip cookie dough is wrapped around a Hershey Kiss. When the cookie bakes, the Hershey Kiss melts a bit so when they are warm, you get a creamy chocolate center.Once the cookie cools, the Hershey Kiss resumes it’s original texture.

I love making these each year around the holidays because they are the perfect addition to your Christmas cookie platter.

Chocolate Chip Hershey Kiss Cookies

My family loves chocolate chip cookies, so much so that we have a list of different versions. Our go-to chocolate chip cookie is Mom’s version. They are a classic chocolate chip cookie.

Then, when we are feeling super indulgent, I make Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies. These are super thick and dense and contain nuts. For my husband’s side of the family, I make mini chocolate chip cookies just like his Grandma always made.

Lastly, our favorite Christmas cookie is a chocolate chip log topped with melted chocolate and chopped nuts. Our family has always called these Dainty Logs.

But, there’s another cookie on my favorite list. Chocolate Chip Hershey Kiss Cookies are more of a shortbread with a divine buttery flavor. But, there’s also a surprise right in the center. The chocolate chip cookie dough gets wrapped around a Hersey Kiss.

Shortbread Hersey Kiss Cookies

These chocolate chip cookies have the flavor and texture of a shortbread. The dough contains straight up butter, no need to fool around with margarine or shortening.

The other thing that makes these Hershey Kiss Chocolate Chip Cookies more like shortbread is the lack of a leavening agent and a lack of eggs. There’s no baking soda or baking powder in this recipe.

That means the texture is more flat and the butter flavor shines through.
