After National Highways for EV success now Government of India is planning to incentivize the adoption of electric buses for intercity and interstate travel to promote green mobility and reduce emissions. Plans include installing charging infrastructure along highways and supporting state governments in purchasing electric buses.

It’s a bold and inspiring step which will keep India ahead of the developed nations in adopting to EV Buses along Highways. However, relying solely on a bulky battery system won’t be suffice. The current EV infrastructure requires cutting-edge ‘Battery Management Systems and Controllers’ to enhance mileage by an additional 50-60%. Leveraging ‘third-party battery gateways’ among EV bus manufacturers would eliminate the limitations of single-brand batteries, enabling efficient battery swapping along routes to save time.

Fast chargers on Highways is a must for this. Intercity buses currently need some boost as they can't go on single charge. When passengers are taking a snack break, the buses can top-up with fast charging.
